Meet Steven Ly

Portrait of Steven Ly

Steven Ly grew up in Rosemead, went to Willard Elementary, Temple Intermediate and Rosemead High School, and became the first in his family to graduate college when he earned his degree at UCLA.

He has represented Rosemead on the City Council since 2009. His colleagues elected him Mayor in 2011, making him the youngest Mayor in the city’s history at 26.

Steven is a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve. He commanded 148 soldiers overseas in Iraq and Syria, clearing explosive hazards and managing large construction projects. He brings that same discipline to every Council meeting.

Professionally, Steven served as a Taxpayer Advocate, where he helped more than 700 residents resolve property tax problems and recover money they were owed.

Rosemead is his home. Serving it is his life’s work.

Campaign Goal 2:
Homes Our Kids Can Afford

Steven will bring Rosemead’s tax dollars home from Sacramento and Washington to build workforce housing, expand homeownership, and keep the city affordable for the families who built it.
